Terms of Use
1. Agreement
By creating an account or using Gastro Pal you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. You must be at least 18 years old to use it.
2. What Gastro Pal is
Gastro Pal is a journaling and pattern-recognition tool. It helps you record what you eat, drink and feel, and shows patterns in your own entries, such as foods that often come before symptoms.
3. Not medical advice
Gastro Pal does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, dietitian or other qualified professional. Always ask a professional about your symptoms, medications and diet before you make changes.
Patterns shown in the app are correlations in your own entries. They can be wrong, and they do not prove that a food or habit causes a symptom. Ingredient tags and allergy alerts are based only on what you type and can miss hidden ingredients, so always check labels and follow your clinician's advice.
If you have severe or worrying symptoms, such as blood in your stool, severe pain, fever, signs of dehydration or any emergency, get medical help right away. Do not rely on this app.
Information in the app, including anything about its creator, is general information. Using the app does not create a doctor-patient, dietitian-client or any other professional relationship.
4. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others or the service at risk.
5. Your data
Your entries belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only so we can provide the app to you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can download or delete them at any time.
6. Using the app responsibly
Please do not:
- break the law or use the app to harm anyone;
- try to see, change or delete anyone else's information, or try to get around the app's security;
- create accounts or send requests with scripts or bots, or overload the service;
- copy, reverse-engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it.
7. Our property
The app, its design and its name belong to Perception Promotions. We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable permission to use the app for its intended purpose.
8. Other services
The app relies on services run by others, such as hosting, email and app stores. We are not responsible for them, and they have their own terms.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep the app running but cannot promise it will always be available, error-free or that your data will never be lost. We may change or stop features. Use "Download all my data" to keep your own copy.
10. Disclaimers and limits
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
To the extent the law allows, Perception Promotions is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on the app. Our total liability to you for anything connected to the app is limited to US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Ending these terms
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as the medical disclaimer and the limits on liability, continue after that.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. This does not take away rights you have under the consumer-protection laws of the place where you live.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make an important change we will tell you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
